EUROVISION 2015: Sweden win!
|Congratulations to Sweden! Winners of Eurovision 2015 with the song ‘Heroes’. It was an effective performance, a solid stream of voting for them and eventually they pulled ahead of Russia to secure victory for the sixth time, and the second time in just four years which means we’re off to Stockholm next year.
In other Eurovision headlines this evening….
- Germany and Austria both achieved the dreaded ‘null points’ – Germany for the first time and Austria for the third occasion in its history. This is the first time any country has achieved null points in the Eurovision final since the UK in 2003.
- Electro Velvet came 24th for the UK getting 1 point from Malta and Ireland, and 3 points from San Marino – another extremely disappointing result but unfortunately it was more than deserved. France came 25th (4 points), Germany and Austria joint last (0 points)
- Australia made a successful debut achieving 12 points from a few countries – including a ‘douze points’ exchange with eventual winners Sweden. They came 5th,
- The top 5 was completed by Russia (2nd), Italy (3rd) and Belgium (4th).
